Cheerleading Feature Articles

A Year in Review

February 17, 2016
By Mark Maloney R'85

When talking about sports and what goes into a season, one may not think of “Cheerleading” teams in the same way you would think of football, baseball or basketball for example. So I had to ask the coach, Jen Kocher, “what does a typical cheer season look like?” And below is a detailed list of a typical cheer season. Wow!. I had no idea. The amount of time and effort put into a typical cheer season is simply amazing. The team's impact our culture, spirit, faith, service and overall brand in the communities we live and visit. I remember watching my daughter cheer freshman year and when we would visit other schools for a sports contest, the difference in spirit and energy within our squad compared to most everyone we visited was very noticeable. Next time you see a cheerleader, say thank you!
