2011-2012 Preview

We are looking forward to the return of our entire team this coming year. With the Schultheis sisters leading the way as phenomenal captains, we hope to grow together more as a team: spiritually, mentally and physically. Working hard all summer long to improve their skills, the girls are motivated to uphold their Sectional and Regional Champion titles, as well as to maintain their undefeated status.  And with the assistance of incoming lower and upper classmen, we hope to push forward with leadership and once again keep our quest for a State Champion Title alive.  

2010-2011 Review

The 2010-2011 season was once again an undefeated regular season with a 9-0 record. The girls finished first in the Columbus East Invite and fourth in the Marion High School Invitational.  The Rebel Gymnasts defeated Columbus North to their first dual loss in 5 years.  RHS also claimed another Sectional title for the 3rd consecutive year. Juniors Kaitie and Cassie Schultheis took 1st and 2nd in the All Around. Kaitie won the Vault and Balance Beam and Cassie the Floor Exercise On the Uneven Bars, the twins also took the top 2 spots. 

Again in Lafayette, the undefeated Rebels garnered their 3rd Regional Team Champ title.  Cassie and Kaitie Schultheis, once more, went 1 and 2 in the All around competition.  Cassie placed first on the Uneven Bars and Floor Exercise and Kaitie won the Balance Beam. Roncalli went on to finish fifth place at the State Finals as a team.  Cassie Schultheis made the podium in the All Around (5th), Uneven Bars (4th), Floor Exercise (4th), and Vault (5th).  Her sister, Kaitie Schultheis was the Runner-up on Bars. Both girls were the only Indianapolis gymnasts to place in the top six in the individual events. 

Cassie Schultheis, yet again, broke her own school record on the Floor Exercise with a 9.8; and she is now the new Uneven Bars record holder with a 9.725. Another record breaker was Kaitie Schultheis, who tied the school record on Vault with a 9.7. 

Other notable performances at the State meet were: Junior Haley Craig, sophomores Taylor Blakley, Ally Egan and Ali Mariutto.  The team also consisted of junior Andrea Hickle, and freshmen Alex Wallem and Micaela Zimmerman. Managers this year were Kelsey Kolisek and Abbey Swhear.  

Congratulations to the Roncalli 2011 Gymnastics Team for their outstanding performances and admirable sportsmanship among each other and opposing teams. This was an exceptional season where many obstacles were overcome. We are so proud of you.
