Girls Gymnastics takes on the New Palestine Dragons and Scecina Crusaders

January 26, 2017
By Mark Maloney R’85

It was a tight fit at the Gymnastics company as the lady Rebels battled the New Palestine Dragons and Scecina Crusaders. With only one freshman, four juniors and one senior on the squad, the lady rebel Gymnastics team battled hard putting up respectable scores in floor, bars, vault and beam. Freshman Makenzie Kraezig stepped in to help the Rebels on the beam, a very courageous thing to do as a freshman. The lone senior on the squad Lexy Conjelko had a great showing in each of her events. Shelby Probst stuck the beam with her first performance ever on the beam, which is very difficult to do. Kayleigh Winter also stuck the beam after seeing a few teammates stumble in front of her. The beam is an event requiring tremendous courage and she did not waiver! Coach Laurie Hall provides encouragement to her team with mottos like, “Sore today, stronger tomorrow” and “Think smarter not harder”. And it shows as her squad is loose and focused at the same time. Great job lady Rebels!
