2012 Season Preview

Coming off the 3A State Championship, the Rebel Softball team will look to pick up where things left off last season. Leading the 2012 squad will be seniors Allie Burkhardt, Kylie Fitzsimmons, and Meghann Wood. Burkhardt (CF) and Wood (3B) are returning starters – other returning starters include junior pitchers Hope Golden and Kendra Lynch, junior outfielder Megan Prather, and her sister, sophomore utility player Emily Prather. Newcomers to the varsity squad include Junior Emilie Waugh, sophomores Abby McKeand, Lauren Huebler, Hana Roessler and Jordan Hedges, and freshman Maddie Mulinaro. The 2012 schedule will be as challenging as ever—but, the Rebels will be primed for another deep run into the tourney come late May.

2011 Season Review

This past season was record-setting for the Class 3A fourth ranked Roncalli Softball Team with the team winning the State Championship Title on June 11 against Andrean. This year's team made their first state championship game appearance since winning the Class 2A title in 2001. The Lady Rebels finished their current season 28-7 and also set a new school record for wins (28). Andrea Rodriguez set a new state record with 4 RBIs in a state game while Mel Keyler set a state record of 3 runs scored in a state game.  

The state champions posted wins this season over Cardinal Ritter, Lawrence North, New Palestine, Bishop Chatard, Beech Grove, Scecina Memorial, Danville, North Central, Warren Central, Greenfield Central and Whiteland. Kendra Lynch set a school record for hits in a season (66), doubles in a season (19) and RBIs in a season (46). Trista Cox was named to the Indiana North/South All-Star Game. Kendra Lynch, Kristen Thomas, Andrea Rodriguez and Trista Cox earned All State and All County recognition (additional honors may have been recently announced after this magazine went to print).The team set a school record for wins (28); Kendra Lynch set school records for season hits, doubles and RBI.
