2007 Season Review

This season the number of players increased so that we were able to organize a competitive JV team along with the Varsity. 10 players were on the roster from last year with 20+ active players listed this season.

The Varsity started the season strong posting a 3-0 record while the JV fumbled the first season match and then won 8 straight season matches, losing only to Lawrence North, having won against them earlier in the Early Bird tournament. The varsity followed their first few wins with tough losses to state ranked Cathedral and Center Grove. Varsity posted wins against Lawrence Central, Lawrence North and Heritage Christian. The final varsity record was 10-13.

Invitational tournament offerings were also a part of the 2006—2007 season. The JV team finished 3rd in the Carmel Early Bird Invitational tournament and 4th in the mid-season Cathedral invitational tournament. The Varsity team did well in the Regional tournament beating Lawrence North in the early rounds, but failing to get past the #1 ranked Cathedral Irish in the Championship round.

In the Metro tournament, JV fell early to state contender Center Grove, while Varsity lost by a narrow margin (5 games, 2 point loss) to rival Southport.

Aaron Puntarelli was awarded the honor of Boys Volleyball Junior All-Star team as a first year player, and Pat Tolin awarded Boys Volleyball Senior All-Star as a four year player. We are confident that others will join them with this honor in following seasons.
