2016-2017 Girls Swimming & Diving Team

Girls’ Swimming and Diving 2016-2017 Review

With a young team with only seven returnees, the girls swimming and diving team was able to blend youth and experience by the end of the season. The team achieved its primary regular season goal by capturing the first-ever Circle City Conference championship. The squad finished their dual/tri meet season with a 9-3 record, finished seventh in the Marion County Championships and sixth in the sectional.

In the sectional, senior Ashley Harter swam the two fastest 500 Freestyles in program history. She swan a 5:18.12 in the preliminary round, breaking the school record of 5:22.09. In the final, she bettered the mark, swimming a 5:14.94 and finished fourth.

Harter was named the team’s MVP and senior Shayla Laut earned the team’s mental attitude award. Freshman Savannah Morrall was named the team’s most improved swimmer.
