2011 Season Review

The #3 ranked Boys' Volleyball Team and Coach Jane Jennings claimed the State Runner-Up Position! With an overall season-ending record of 26-6, the Rebels competed in the eight team state finals at Southport High School on Saturday, May 28th, placing 2nd next to the Carmel Greyhounds. 

The team led by nine seniors this season, claimed the Regional match, winning over Lutheran High School. The Varsity placed 2nd to number #1 ranked Carmel in the Metro Tournament. 

The 2011 season brought a lot of firsts:  wins over Center Grove and Lawrence North and wins over Cathedral, that had never been accomplished.

Head Coach Jane Jennings comments, “Much credit goes to our seniors and our coaches who 3 years ago committed to making Roncalli Boy's Volleyball a force in the IBVCA.  The core of our team dedicated themselves to improving their skills with off season play with our coaches guiding them along the way.  The day of State was incredible for our boys, coaches, parents and fans.” 

Individual honors included: All State Tournament team players of Nick Jennings and Brendan Massing. Junior All Stars were Josh Brown and Dane Staton. Senior All Stars were Nick Jansen, Nick Jennings and Brendan Massing. Academic All State honors went to Danny Battiato, Nick Jansen, Brendan Massing, Sam Schabel and Nick Strange.

At one point during the team’s season, they were ranked 33rd in the nation, which was the first time ever to be ranked nationally. Congratulations to the team, coaches and parents, and Roncalli wishes the seniors well!
