The RHS Varsity Wrestling Team had a tremendous season this year. Heading into the season, Coach Ellis and his team's goal was to improve at every event from the previous year. Impressing many around the state, the Rebel wrestlers were able to accomplish this goal and a couple others by season's end. The team finished the season ranked 16th in the state with an 11-4 record. The wrestling team won the Brebeuf Invitational, placed 3rd at the New Palestine Invitational, 4th at the Marion County Tournament and Connersville Invitational and were runners-up in their Sectional.
The wrestlers advanced to the team regional competition for the first time in several years. Seven individual wrestlers advanced to the regional tournament. Three wrestlers advanced to and placed at the state tournament. Freshman Josh Kieffer (38-5) was a sectional and regional champion, semi-state runner-up and placed 5th at the state finals. His twin brother Justin (36-9) was sectional champion, regional runner-up and placed 7th at the state finals.
