Football Coaching Staff
Bruce Scifres - Head Coach
Bruce graduated from Plainfield High School where he starred in football, basketball and track. He played tailback at Butler University where he set three school rushing records and was named MVP and ALL Conference. As a senior he was the recipient of the Hilton U. Brown Mental Attitude Award. Bruce was recently inducted into the Butler University Athletic Hall of Fame. Bruce teaches Advanced Physical Conditioning at Roncalli.
After leading the Rebels to an undefeated state championship season in 1993, Bruce was named AAA Coach of the Year and was selected to coach in the 1994 North-South All-Star game. After leading the Rebels to a second consecutive state championship in 1994, Bruce was named Indiana's Coach of the Year for all classes! Bruce was again named AAA Coach of the Year as he led the 1999 Rebels to a perfect 15-0 State Championship season. After leading the Rebels to three consecutive AAAA State Championships in 2002, 2003 and 2004 he was named Indiana Coach of the Year for all classes once again!
Bruce and his wife Jackie have four children, Luke, Abby, Caleb and Meggie.
Jerre McManama - Coach
Jerre is beginning his 11th year as a teacher in the Business & Technology Education Department and a coach at Roncalli. Coach Mac starred in football at Muncie Northside High School, and then received his Bachelors degree from Ball State and MBA from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School. He will be coaching the running backs and will assist with linebackers for the Rebels.
Jerre and his wife, Cindy, have three sons: Colin, Patrick and Murphy.
Scott Houser - Coach
Scott Houser is in his second tour of duty at Roncalli High School. Scott taught and coached at Roncalli from the '97-'98 through the '99-'00 school years. Scott and his wife Karen (RHS '93) have three children: Lucy age 7, Robert age 4 and Maryanna age 1. Coach Houser grew up in Ft. Wayne and attended Bishop Dwenger High School where was an offensive lineman on the '90 and '91 state championship teams. Scott earned his bachelors degree from Indiana University in '96 and Masters Degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in '03. Coach Houser is excited to be back teaching in the Science Department and coaching both football and track at Roncalli High School.
Mike Sahm - Coach
Mike is a 1989 Roncalli graduate and played under Head Coach Bill Sylvester. As a senior, Mike helped lead the team to the 1988 State Championship as a starting inside linebacker. He was also a standout baseball player for the Rebels. After high school Mike played four years of college football at Valparaiso University.
Mike teaches Physical Education at Nativity and is a Certified Athletic Trainer for Roncalli's Athletic Department. He will be coaching the tight ends and outside linebackers this year. Mike and his wife, Susie, recently celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary.
Chris Belch - Coach
Chris is a 1985 graduate of Roncalli High School. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Indiana University, and his JD from IU Law School.
Chris played football while at Roncalli and coached CYO for several years. Starting his 14th year of coaching varsity football for the Rebels, he will coach the defensive and offensive lines and will serve as the varsity defensive coordinator. Chris is a partner in the Lynch and Belch Law Firm on the southside of Indy.
Chris Strykowski - Coach
Chris graduated from Cathedral High School in 1993. While there, he played football, baseball and was one of the original members of the ice hockey team. After high school Chris went to college at Ball State University.
Chris is beginning his 11th year of teaching Geography and Global Issue at Roncalli. This year he will be coaching the wide receivers, defensive backs and special teams for varsity, along with assisting the JV team.
Chris and his wife, Lynne, have a five year old son, Austin.
Brian Lauck - Coach
Brian graduated from Roncalli in 1995 where he starred in football, basketball and baseball. He was a captain and MVP of the football team and was Roncalli's 1995 Male Athlete of the Year. He went to the University of Indianapolis where he started for three years as a defensive back and was named to the All-Conference team as a senior. Brian coached at the University of Indianapolis for two years.
In his 8th year of coaching here at Roncalli, Brian will be coaching the defensive backs and quarterbacks. Brian completed graduate school at the University of Indianapolis. He and his wife, Lori, have a son, Brayden, and two daughters, Baylie and Madison.
Tim Puntarelli - Coach
Tim has coached football at Roncalli since the late 1970's. Tim is a Cathedral High School graduate, where he starred in football and track. He then graduated from Notre Dame. Tim is Roncalli's Dean of Students and will be coaching the quarterbacks and defensive secondary.
Eddie Keller - Coach
Eddie is a 1999 Roncalli graduate. As a standout in both football and wrestling, he was named captain of both teams his senior year. He was also selected as the Most Valuable Offensive Lineman by his teammates. Eddie played football for 4 years at Hanover College. Eddie teaches in the Social Studies Department at Roncalli. He will be coaching offensive and defensive linemen. Eddie and his wife Jaci have a two year old daughter, Samantha.
Steve Strykowski - Coach
Steve Strykowski - Steve graduated from Franklin Central in 1996. As a co-captain his senior year, he was named to the All-Area football team as a place kicker. Steve currently works for Comcast, and enjoys coaching his daughter's softball team. In his 3rd year on the Rebel football staff, Steve will be working with the kickers helping with all special teams. Steve and his wife Kristi have three children: Michaela, Madysen and Merrick.
Pat Kuntz - Coach
Pat is a 2005 Roncalli grad, and was a defensive starter on three consecutive State Championship teams. He was also a starter on the 2005 Semi-State qualifying basketball team. Pat went on to become a 4 year letter winner and a 3 year starting noseguard at the University of Notre Dame. He was named Lineman of the Year for the Irish in '07 and '08, and led the nation in passes broken up by a defensive lineman in '09. Pat will be coaching the defensive line for the Rebels this season.
Greg Armbruster - Coach
Greg was a team captain and All-State linebacker on Roncalli's 1999 Undefeated State Championship team. Greg graduated from Franklin College with a degree in Sociology while earning 4 varsity letters in football. He recently married Roncalli math teacher Laura (Laycock) Armbruster. They reside on the southside of Indianapolis. Greg will be coaching the inside linebackers.
