Philosophy – All students can succeed when provided with the right atmosphere to meet their needs. It is our job as teachers and parents to provide an atmosphere that will assist students to reach their potential and realize their God given talents.
Goals for the STARS Program
Work with Perry Township to implement Individualized Service Plans (ISP):
- Identify and meet the needs of individual students
- Assist teachers to develop and monitor specific behavioral intervention plans
- Educate staff, faculty and student body on learning differences
- Foster an understanding and acceptance of learning differences
- Provide in-service opportunities for teachers regarding best practices, differentiation strategies and disability awareness
- Assist in development of lesson plans to accommodate diverse learners
- Provide STARS students with necessary skills to live an independent and productive life after high school
STARS Programs Offered at Roncalli High School
The resource program is designed to provide services for students working towards a high school diploma.
- Notify teachers of student’s accommodations
- Assist in the development of schedules
- Provide accommodations on classroom and standardized tests
- Support students in general education classes through daily resource class
- Provide appropriate accommodations on daily classroom materials
Life Academy Program
The Life Academy is a blended educational program designed to provide needed supports and academically challenge students with intellectual disabilities:
- Support in inclusive general education classes with a modified curriculum
- Life Skills curriculum in Language Arts and Math
- Inclusion in extracurricular activities/campus life
- Social Skills support/Behavior Plans
- Work study program/adult transition
