Excellence of Performance Award

This scholarship is open to any student who is a current freshman, sophomore or junior at Roncalli who has a passion for the performing arts (choir, theatre or band).

Dr. Tom Madden attended St. Roch Catholic Grade School. After graduating from high school in 1971 and the University of Notre Dame in 1975, he completed his medical degree at the IU Medical School in 1979. Dr. Madden practiced emergency medicine for 30 years. In addition to his dedication to helping others, Dr. Tom had a tremendous passion for Roncalli High School and its Performing Arts programs, as all three of his children — Erin R’02, Lauren R’05 and Austin R’10 — participated in countless plays, musicals, show choir competitions and productions. Tom’s wife, Terri, established this scholarship with the assistance of their children in February 2013.

The 2026 proud recipient of the Madden Scholarship is sophomore Tyler Kedra. Tyler has been actively involved in Roncalli Performing Arts and has demonstrated a strong commitment to the arts through his participation and leadership. His dedication, passion and support of fellow performers embody the spirit of this scholarship. He is a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. His parents are Jennifer and James Kedra.
