Excellence of Performance Award
This scholarship is open to any student who is a current freshman, sophomore, or junior at Roncalli who has a passion for the performing arts (choir, theatre, or band).
Dr. Tom Madden attended St. Roch Catholic Grade School. After graduating from high school (1971) and the University of Notre Dame (1975), he completed his medical degree at the IU Medical School in 1979. Dr. Madden practiced emergency medicine for 30 years. In addition to his gift for helping others in need, Dr. Tom had a real passion for Roncalli High School and its Performing Arts, as all three of his children, Erin R’02, Lauren R’05, and Austin R’10 participated in countless plays, musicals, show choir competitions, and productions. Tom’s wife, Terri, established this scholarship with the assistance of their children in February 2013.
This year, two students, Ansley Bishop and Ian Knight, were the proud recipients of the Madden Scholarship. Ansley is a 3 year member of the band where she plays the trumpet and is first chair. She is a graduate of Saints Francis and Clare grade school. Her parents are Mike and Mary Kay Bishop. Also a Saints Francis and Clare graduate, Ian Knight is a 4 year show choir member as well a part of the Roncalli Jazz Band. He is the son of Emily and Ted Knight.
