Meet the Medical Staff
St. Vincent Sports Performance offers an extraordinary array of services for our athletes, coaches and staff members. Off-season strength and conditioning specialist, sports nutritionist, sports psychologist, physical therapist, team doctor, and orthopedic surgeons are just some of the resources available for our teams. As well St. Vincent will be providing the day to day care for the athletes by the athletic trainers, Mike Sahm LAT, ATC and Megan Pakkala LAT, ATC.

Michael Sahm, LAT, ATC is one of two Athletic Trainers at Roncalli. Sahm is entering his 25th year of sports medicine at Roncalli. Sahm is a graduate of Roncalli High School. He continued his education at Valparaiso University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education while majoring in Athletic Training. He is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association and licensed by the State of Indiana. Sahm was named the 2019 Joe Harvey Distinguished Service Award winner by the Indiana Athletic Trainers Association. He was a key presenter regarding concussion management at the 2014, 2016 and 2018 Indiana Non-Public Educator’s Association. Sahm has worked as a host committee member for both the 56th and 65th Annual NATA Meetings and Symposium. He was also a featured speaker at the 2004 Indiana Athletic Trainers Association's Fall Symposium. Sahm was part of the medical staff for each of the last six International Bowls with the USA Football National Team competing against Canada. He has also worked with such national events as the Nike All-America Basketball Camp, USA Track and Field Championships and the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. He has worked the USA Cycling Masters Finals.
Megan Pakkala, LAT, ATC is the one of two Athletic Trainers at Roncalli. She is entering her first full year with the Roncalli Sports Medicine Team. Pakkala is a graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training. She comes to Roncalli from Newfield, N. Y. She is certified by the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and licensed by the state of Indiana. Pakkala was a member of the medical staff for the WGA Western Open PGA Tournament. She brings a wealth of experience from the college level, working with the Kent State’s track and field team as well as the wrestling and softball teams.
Audrey Poteet, B.S. will serve as Roncalli’s college intern for the fall semester until the end of January 2021. Poteet is currently in the second year of the master’s program in Athletic Training at Franklin College. She graduated from Ben Davis High School in 2015. She continued her education at Trine University, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree with a minor in Athletic Training. While at Trine University, she was an intern for Trine University Women’s Hockey team. Her plan after graduating in the summer of 2021 is to move to Hawaii and work at the secondary level.
