2018 Girls Soccer Review
The girls soccer team finished with a 5-10 record, working against a schedule that featured eight games with teams that finished the season ranked in the top 20 in their respective classes. The young Rebel team went through the ups and downs of inexperience, but were much more competitive the second time they faced teams like eventual tournament winner Brebeuf Jesuit in the Marion County Tournament and eventual Class 2A state champion Cathedral in the sectional final.
Senior goalkeeper Molly Mullin was named the team’s MVP, in addition to earning All-Circle City Conference honors. Freshman defender Abbey Scheil joined Mullin on the all-conference team and was also named All-Marion County. Sophomore defender Lauren Prather was also chosen to the All-Marion County team. Junior midfielder Riley Prewitt and sophomore defender Jamie Mahin were honorable mention All-Marion County selections. Prewitt was tabbed as a Top Team Player by the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association (ISCA). Junior midfielder Jeanne Sering won the team’s mental attitude award.
Molly Mullin, along with fellow seniors Ainsley Flask, Sidney Kritzmire and Mariel Martinez were named ISCA Academic All-State, as were juniors Isabella Battiston, Minna Burkhardt, Sophia Dietz, Riley Prewitt, Jeanne Sering and Emily Sonderman. Flask and Kritzmire were also chosen to the Academic All-State list by the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Assocation (ICGSA).
