2019 Girls Soccer Coaching Staff
Varsity Head Coach
Maurice Schilten is entering his sixth season as the head coach for the Lady Rebels. Schilten, a native of The Netherlands, played in the development system of Dutch professional club Willem II as a youth, culminating with a first-team appearance in the Eredivisie, the top level of professional soccer in The Netherlands. In 1994, Schilten came to the United States to play college soccer at Xavier University. While at Xavier, he was one of the top 10 scorers in the nation and finished his career with the school single-season assist record. He also earned the Atlantic 10 Conference’s Scholar Athlete of the Year award and was an Academic AllAmerican. Following his college career, he played professionally in the U.S. and in The Netherlands.
Schilten spent six seasons (2000-2005) as the head coach for both the men’s
and women’s soccer programs at Franklin College. While at Franklin, he led the
men’s team to the first winning record in program history. In his second season
at Roncalli (2015), Schilten guided the Lady Rebels to a school record of 17 wins.
Additionally, he has been coaching youth club soccer in central Indiana since
Fowler is a 2011 Roncalli graduate. She attended Ball State University, where she earned
a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She is currently a fourth grade teacher in
the Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation. While at Roncalli, Fowler was a fouryear
varsity starter, team captain as a junior and senior and U.S. Army Reserve National
Scholar-Athlete Award winner her senior year.
Lacey Hersman is a 2008 graduate of Center Grove High School. She went on to play
soccer at Marian University while earning a bachelor's degree in mathematics. Hersman
came to Roncalli from Marquette Catholic HS in Michigan City, Indiana. She taught at
Marquette for five years and served as the varsity girls soccer coach. During the 2016-
2017 season, Hersman became the winningest coach and led the Blazers to the best
record in program history. At Roncalli, is a member of the math department as an algebra
and geometry teacher.
Erin Darland enters her first season with the girls soccer program. She is a 2012 Roncalli graduate and was a four-year varsity girls soccer letter-winner, as well as a member of the track team. She then attended Saint Joseph's College, where she earned a bachelor's degree in biology and was a member of their women's soccer team. She also earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Marian University and is now a registered nurse at St. Vincent Hospital.
