2017 Boys Tennis Team

2017 Boys Tennis Review

Facing the graduation of last season’s top four players and a season-ending injury to a returning player, the boys’ tennis team rallied to win the program’s first sectional title since 2014. They defeated Lutheran (5-0) and Frankln Central (4-1) to win the program’s ninth overall sectional crown. The team finished with a 9-14 record against a schedule featuring seven teams in the state’s final top 30 poll and two of the state’s top five teams. Among the team’s victories were two wins over Franklin Central and wins over Lutheran and Lawrence Central, which propelled the team into the Marion County Tournament semifinal round. Senior Bryson Meek won the team’s MVP award. Sophomore Alex Payne earned the team’s mental attitude award.
