2018 Boys Tennis Review
The boys tennis team played its best down the stretch, capturing the program’s 10th sectional title and second straight. In the sectional, the team defeated the host Franklin Central 3-2 in the semifinal round, then topped Lutheran 5-0 in the final. Winning in the final for the Rebels were senior Austin Schofield (#1 singles), sophomores Tyler Schofield (#2 singles) and Sam Limcaco (#3 singles), along with the doubles pairs of seniors Garrett Meek and Jacob Perez (#1 doubles) and sophomore Kaden Meek and senior Tyler Pollard. (#2 doubles). The team finished with an 8-12 record against a schedule featuring three teams ranked in the top 10 in the final state rankings. Jacob Perez was named the team’s MVP and freshman Ty Ransberg earned the team’s mental attitude award.
