REBELS OPEN SEASON WITH CONVINCING WIN OVER GREENWOOD

The #7 state ranked Rebels, under head coach Wade McClurg, opened the 2018-19 season with a dual meet win at Greenwood by the score of 63-10.

Six Roncalli wrestlers won by fall. They included Brayden Lowery (120 lb.), Sam Slivka (126 lb.), Alec Viduya (138 lb.), David Page (152 lb.), Spencer Fears (220 lb.) and John Harris (285 lb.).

Four of the Rebel wins were by decision. Trent Smith won by major decision at the 160 pound weight class, as did Lorenzo Salazar at 170 and Tyce Freije at 145. The closest match of the night was Elijah Mahan at the 182 pound weight class. His match was tied at seven at the end of the second period. He won by decision 10-9, in the last 20 seconds of the match.

Kody Glithero (106 lb.) and Zach Wilson (113 lb.) each won by forfeit.

LOWERY PINS WALENDZAK, IRISH RALLY TO BEAT REBELS

Fans packed the Woodshed Tuesday night as the #5 Roncalli Rebels hosted the #1 Cathedral Irish. Along with watching two top five teams in the IHSAA Power Poll, fans also honored the four senior wrestlers and their parents:John Harris, Spencer Fears, Elijah Mahan and Lorenzo Salazar.

Ranked Rebels Defeat Franklin Central On Senior Night

The state ranked Rebel wrestlers beat the Franklin Central Flashes at the Woodshed by the score of 59-15. The Rebels brought home wins at the JV and varsity levels in front of a packed crowd for Senior Night and CYO Night.
