The staff of the Roncalli cafeteria strives to make mealtime a great experience for our students, faculty and staff. Our motto is: “We will not rest until we are the world’s finest school cafeteria!” Every employee on our staff has a direct connection to Roncalli and tries to treat each student as they would their own.

Breakfast is served!
The snack bar is open every day before school at 6:50 am for breakfast. The cost of breakfast is $2.25 and includes an entrée, fruit and/or juice and a milk. There are different choices for breakfast entrees including: sausage biscuit, PB&J uncrustables, assorted cereals, muffins, poptarts and mini bagels to name a few. Students may also buy items a la carte at their regular prices.
Lunch is served!
There are many ways to create a school lunch at Roncalli every day. The cost of a lunch is $4.00.
We have a pizza line and a sandwich line. We have several large lunch-size salads that are available daily. We also have a hot entrée that changes every day. The snack bar offers a peanut butter & jelly lunch every day. Our a la carte room (also called the “shake room”) features a hot entrée every day that can be made into a lunch. There are many fruit and vegetable sides as well as milk to round out your lunch meal.
If a student is eligible for free or reduced-priced lunch, the student must take a fruit or vegetable along with their entrée to make it a lunch. (This is a USDA rule.) Students and staff are not limited in the number of fruit and vegetable sides they may take with their lunch, but may only take one serving of each.
Additional entrees cost $2.25 each, additional pasta or hot vegetable sides cost $1.00 each and additional fruit sides cost $1.00 each. One milk comes with lunch but additional milks are $0.50 each.
PLEASE NOTE: WITH SUPPLY CHAIN ISSUES, OUR MENU AND A LA CARTE OFFERINGS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
Ala Carte Offerings
If a student does not wish to get a full lunch, there are many a la carte offerings available daily. The A la Carte Room (also known as the “Shake Room”) features bosco sticks, milkshakes in 9 flavor burst flavors and fruit slushies. It also has a hot items that rotate on a weekly basis including: buffalo chicken poppers, mini corn dogs and French fries.
The Snack Bar features hot pretzels, PB&J uncrustables, baked chips, ice cream novelties, granola bars and Snapple diet teas.
If students purchase “extras” that are not part of the lunch, they will be charged the cost of these items separately. Favorite extras include our chocolate chip cookies, bottled water and canned juice drinks. If your student intends to purchase items other than a meal, please make sure there are adequate funds in their account.
The snack bar is open every day except Friday after school until 3:30 pm.
Free and Reduced Meals
Families that believe they would qualify for free or reduced-priced meals should submit a free/reduced meal application. Those students who are eligible for free meals can get a free breakfast and a free lunch every school day. Those students who are eligible for reduced meals can get a breakfast for $0.30 and a lunch for $0.40 every school day. The free and reduced eligibility is programmed into the Mealtime system so it remains confidential.
MealTime Apply Online is a secure and convenient way to apply for free and reduced meals benefits from the privacy of your home. You’ll know your application was submitted completely and accurately, and your school will be able to make a determination of eligibility without delay. Click here to apply.
Benefits from completing applications stretch far beyond the cafeteria and impact students in the classroom and at home. All information submitted in these applications is private and confidential.
We are no longer accepting deposits (cash or checks) at our cashier stands during lunch. Payments must be deposited in the lunch payment mailboxes located in the Main Office or in the cafeteria by the Food Service Office. (Please be sure to include the student’s name or ID number on the envelope or check.) Deposits can also be made online by going to www.mymealtime.com.
Mealtime is the point of sale system (POS) we use at Roncalli in which your student’s account can be “loaded” with money and used as needed to purchase food in the cafeteria. All students, faculty and staff at Roncalli have a Mealtime school account. For students, this number is their school ID number. This number is entered as a barcode on the student’s ID and will be scanned at the cashier station. So it is important that your student has their ID with them when they make purchases in the cafeteria. They can also use the keypad at the register and key in their ID number if they prefer.
We ask that families set up a Mealtime account for their students online. In this way, you will be able to track purchases and receive low balance warnings. You are also able to make deposits to your student’s account. There is a 4.9% user fee for online deposits.
If you are concerned about the amount your student is spending, we can put a spending limit on the account. This must be done in our cafeteria office. Please email Jeff Richardson at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (317)788-4099 to discuss your options.
There is a limit on charging food in the cafeteria. If your student’s account is more than $20.00 in the negative, they will be asked to take their lunch and go into the cafeteria office to discuss this issue. It is easy to set up the option to receive an email notification from Mealtime when your student’s balance is low. We also send out negative account balance notices by email from the cafeteria office daily.
