The Thad Christopher Yanis
Memorial Scholarship
Thad was a 1991 graduate of Marion High School, and he took pride in being a Marion Giant where he walked the same halls as his brother and his friends. He was proud to attend some of the same classes such as gym, be involved as a manager of the baseball team, and carried his pride close to his heart in learning job skills, such as learning to cook in the cafeteria, doing laundry, and working in a local bowling alley.
Much like the students in the Roncalli Life Academy, Thad participated in many day-to-day activities; he was a champion bowler with the Special Olympics and was a devoted Colts fan. Thad loved family trips to Disney World and had a fond love for Minnie Mouse. He always had a smile on his face and was fondly referred to as “the angel among us.”
Thad is remembered by his family and friends for his smile and his ability to light up any room. Being kind and generous were core to his being, and because of that, Thad’s family created this scholarship to continue that spirit of giving to others.
Thad’s family would like to offer this $250 scholarship opportunity to one student involved with the Roncalli’s Life Academy.

But with God’s grace, he met Betty and built a life together. With this in mind, Dennis Terry, one of Betty and Stayton’s two sons, wanted to honor his parents for creating a safe and loving home and ensuring the boys grew up as men in Christ with two $500 scholarships, one for a male student and one for a female student. These scholarships would give them so much joy as they would be thrilled and honored to be able to help a young person in their educational journey.
